SHOOTING STARS TRASH NIGER TORNADOES AS THEY RETURN TO THE 2ND ON THE LOG

The Oluyole Warriors bounced back from an embarrassing outing against Remo Stars in the Southwest derby where they lost by three goals to nil in.
The match week seven of the 2023/24 NPFL season witnessed the Ogunbote boys playing host to Niger Tornadoes of Mina. The homers went into the game with much belief in making up for their shambolic display away in Ikene. With much determination, the home side started the better side and looked competent to make a bold statement. In just sixteenth minutes, a beautiful in-swinger cross left the defense line of Tornadoes wanting. An unmarked Ayo Adekunle had little but, just to put the ball in the net. He made no mistake as he made the chance count to put Shooting Stars a goal ahead. Warriors dominated the game and looked the side to get the next goal of the game but, Shooting Stars goal tender Chinedu Anozie made a complete mess of what should have been a training ground save as he dropped a free-kick right in front of an opponent who made no mistakes and equalizes for the Ikon Allah boys. All efforts from the home side to restore their lead proved abortive as the first half finished all square.

The home side started the second like the first. A long-range effort from Ayodeji Bamidele fooled the Tornados goalkeeper to restore parity for the host. Things extremely changed for the visitors ever since.
Adelowo Gbolagade’s power running header put the game beyond the visitors’ reach in the sixtieth minute of action following a well-curved corner kick into the box by Joshua Akpan. With still much minutes to fight for Honour, the Ikon Allah boys created great chances that left their strikers face-to-face with the Shooting Stars goalkeeper but, they squandered the opportunities on both occasions.
With the goal heading towards the long blast of the whistle, The Oluyole Warriors added their fourth of the game with less than six minutes of action to record an emphatic victory.

The Oluyole Warriors travel to Kwara State for their next game to face Kwara United.
